Sodium Sulfadiazine
It eliminates bacteria that cause infections by stopping the production of folate inside the bacterial cell, and is commonly used to treat urinary tract infections.
In combination, sulfadiazine and pyrimethamine, can be used to treat toxoplasmosis, a disease caused byToxoplasma gondii.

One of a group of diazine derivatives of sulfanilamide, the pyrimidine analogue of sulfapyridine and sulfathiazole; one of the components of the triple sulfonamide mixture. It is an inhibitor of bacterial folic acid synthesis, which has been highly effective against pneumococcal, staphylococcal, and streptococcal infections, against infections with Escherichia coliand Klebsiella pneumoniae, and in acute gonococcal arthritis; sulfadiazine sodium has the same uses.Diazine derivative of sulfanilamide; inhibitor of bacterial folic acid synthesis, which has been highly effective against pneumococcal, staphylococcal, and streptococcal infections, against infections with Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae, and in acute gonococcal arthritis.
